Who is Khadija bint Khuwaylid (the Mother of the Believers)?

The most remarkable woman, the mother of believers, the first wife of the Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him), was born in a county family 68 years before the Hijrah. Her father, Khuwaylid ibn Asad, was a wealthy and prominent character in Quraysh. Her mother, Fatimah bint Za’idah, was known and modest character as well.

She was the first Muslim. Khadija, the mother of Islam, was the first person on earth to accept Muhammad as the final Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him) and accept the revelations that culminated into the Holy Quran. She was greeted with salam (peace) by Allah himself as well as the Angel Gabriel. She bequeathed her worldly goods and put herself in the face of danger to stand by the Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) as Islam became established in the land.

Even though, she possessed everything to follow her nefs and desires she was known by the by-names al-Tahira "The Pure One" and Khadija Al-Kubra (Khadija "the Great"). Because, in spite of the jahiliya era her life was full of modesty, honesty, honor, and pureness.

Even before she had become Muslim, she was considered people dear according to humanitarian values not for their financial powers and positions.

Khadija died in "Ramadan of the year ten after the Prophethood. She was buried in Jannat Al-Mu'alla cemetery, in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. There are two kilometers away from the Masjid al-Haram.
